Resources and FAQs

Useful before you speak to anyone.

Practical guidance for school owners, principals and administrators, so you can make a good decision whether or not you work with VILAN.

Guides

Three short guides for school leaders.

Each takes about three minutes to read.

Guide 1

The apparel identity review

Lay out one of every garment your school uses, nursery smock to driver's shirt, on one table. Check shades, crest size and position, and who chose each item. Ask three parents and three teachers what is difficult. Record what works too.

Guide 2

The class and purpose matrix

List year groups down the side and occasions across the top: daily, PE, house, events, travel, seasonal. Add faculty, admin, transport and community. Every empty cell is a deliberate choice or a gap.

Guide 3

The school-year roadmap

Work back from reopening: delivery needs packing time, production needs approved samples, samples need an approved design, design needs an agreed identity. Start in October for delivery by March.

The School Wardrobe Checklist.

Twelve questions to check whether your apparel works as one system. Bring them to your next management meeting.

  • Do all wardrobes share one colour palette?
  • Is crest placement the same on every garment?
  • Do house colours sit inside the school palette?
  • Do teachers have a defined look?
  • Are transport and front-office staff covered?
  • Do event tees look like your school?
  • Are sizes consistent across suppliers?
  • Do parents get one size and care guide?
  • Is there a written specification for each garment?
  • Are changes approved in writing?
  • Do you start planning before October?
  • Could you add a garment next year without starting from zero?
Frequently asked

Practical questions.

Cost, fit and exchange, lead time, colours, quantities, charges and supply continuity.

Ask us something else
Is the Brand Book a commitment to buy?

No. It is a planning document for management. Placing an order is a separate written decision.

Does an audit or Brand Book carry a charge?

Any fees, travel, deliverables and confidentiality terms are agreed with you in writing before custom work begins.

Can we start with one wardrobe, such as sportswear?

Yes. Many schools start with one system and introduce the rest in stages.

What is the minimum order?

It depends on the garment and fabric. VILAN confirms quantities and minimums during planning.

Do you supply accessories along with the uniforms?

Yes. Ties, belts, socks, badges and ID lanyards can be planned in the same Brand Book, so they match the uniform. The exact list is agreed with management during planning.

How long does it take?

About six months: the audit in October and delivery in March, ready for the upcoming academic year. Timing is confirmed after requirements and quantities are reviewed.

How do parents buy the uniform?

Through the school, a store or online, as each school arranges. Families get one size and care guide.

What if a size is wrong?

Each programme has a clear exchange route by class and garment, agreed before delivery.

Can we change a design after approval?

Yes, through a written change request. Approved specifications are frozen so that what you approve is what you receive.

How do you keep colours consistent year after year?

Every order is checked against the approved shade on fabric arrival, during stitching and before packing.

Will you continue supplying in future years?

That is the intent: every programme ends with an annual review and a next-year plan, so repeat orders and new joiners follow the same specification.
